AMERICAN INSURANCE ASSOCIATION: APCIA Announces 2021 Class of Emerging Leaders

American Insurance Association issued the following announcement on Dec. 21.

The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) today announced that 123 insurance professionals from across the country and overseas were selected for the 2021 Class of Emerging Leaders and will be invited to attend the 2021 Virtual Emerging Leaders Conference on Feb. 22-23.

The virtual conference, hosted by APCIA, the Insurance Careers Movement (ICM), and AM Best, is designed to bring together and recognize talented rising stars in the insurance industry. Those selected represent a wide range of job functions including technology, claims, government relations, underwriting, human resources, marketing, legal, product development, actuarial, and public relations. Nominees have more than 8 years of job experience and are making a positive impact on their companies and the insurance industry. This year, many nominees not only excelled at their core job responsibilities but also played a pivotal role in helping their companies navigate the challenges of the pandemic or with diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

“Retaining and cultivating top talent is a priority for the insurance industry, and the Emerging Leaders Conference is an opportunity to encourage high performers to remain in the industry and to help shape its future,” said David A. Sampson, president and CEO of APCIA. “2020 has been an unprecedented year, but there are many bright and talented future industry leaders who have excelled and demonstrated great leadership during these challenging times.”

“The Virtual Emerging Leaders Conference, which is held in conjunction with the 6th Annual Insurance Careers Month in February, provides an opportunity for learning, professional development, and networking,” said Marguerite Tortorello, Managing Director of the Insurance Careers Movement. “The members of the 2021 Class of Emerging Leaders innovated and provided solutions throughout COVID-19, accelerated action on diversity, equity, and inclusion and found creative ways to remotely give back to their communities.”

“AM Best has been an incredible supporter of the Emerging Leaders Conference, and APCIA and the Insurance Careers Movement deeply appreciate their on-going commitment to growing talent in the industry,” added Sampson.

The 2021 Virtual Emerging Leaders Conference highlights the exceptional future C-suite leaders in insurance and the collaborative spirit of the industry in supporting diverse rising stars. The conference provides candid insights by industry executives, virtual networking, and tools and resources for emerging leaders to succeed in this fast-changing world. After the Emerging Leaders Conference, the rising stars will join their fellow alumni in serving as ambassadors for the industry and in helping expand career opportunities in insurance.
