AMERICAN INSURANCE ASSOCIATION: APCIA Participates in Driver Safety Campaign with CA Dept. of Insurance, Ford Motor Company, III and CHP

American Insurance Association issued the following announcement on July 31.

The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) joins the California Department of Insurance, Ford Motor Company, the California Highway Patrol and the Insurance Information Institute, to help promote safe driving during the most dangerous days on the road for young drivers.

Media are invited to participate in Ford Motor Company’s Drugged and Drunk Driving Suits, (which simulates being under the influence of drugs and alcohol) and attempt to drive controlled courses.

APCIA’s Senior Director, Public Affairs, Nicole Ganley, will also be on hand to discuss the effects of impairment on driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely and the consequences for drivers arrested for impaired driving. The I.I.I.’s white paper A Rocky Road so far: Recreational Marijuana and Impaired Driving will also be showcased.

The AAA Foundation has identified the days between Memorial Day and Labor Day as the 100 Deadliest Days behind the wheel for teens and young adults. National data shows drugged driving is on the rise and one of the main factors contributing to an increase in car crashes.
