CUNA Mutual Group issued the following announcement on Nov. 28.
VENTURA, Calif.–With the most recent of the devastating fires in California still burning but now all contained, credit unions in the affected areas continue to offer assistance as both the CUs and their members sort through the extensive damage and work to recover.
As CUToday.info reported earlier, a number of CUs are offering emergency loans and other assistance. Among them: Ventura County Credit Union, which is offering:
A VCCU Fire Relief Loan that includes 0% interest for the first 30 days, rates as low as 6.95% APR, repayment terms up to 24 months, and funds of up to $5,000.
A Skip-A-Pay feature on auto, personal or credit card loan.
A BALANCE Financial Relief Hotline through which members can speak with an expert who can offer free, personal one-on-one assistance.
Ventura County CU is also offering members the opportunity to redeem Rewards Points for a donation to The Foundation of VCCU for the VC Stronger Fund.
In addition, Sierra Central Credit Union, which, as CUToday.info reported earlier, is also offering various relief programs, said it has partnered with the TLK Foundation to raise funds to support those affected by the Camp Fire.
“(One-hundred percent) of the collected funds raised through donations will be distributed through local non-profit organizations and will be properly vetted as trusted and well managed emergency service providers as will Camp Fire survivor applicants who apply,” the credit union said.
