Nationwide exec Mark Pizzi to retire

Nationwide, based in Columbus, Ohio, said Mark Pizzi, president of its direct and member solutions business unit since 2014, will retire at the end of the year.

Pizzi joined Nationwide as an underwriter in 1978, the company said in a recent press release. He has also been regional vice president for Virginia, regional vice president for New York, senior vice president of regional operations and president and chief operating officer of Nationwide Insurance.

“It has been an incredible privilege, both personally and professionally, to work with Mark,” Steve Rasmussen, Nationwide CEO, said in the release. “His vast knowledge of the business has helped Nationwide grow and be successful while his engaging leadership style has enabled him to build a strong team in every job he has held.”

“We’re fortunate to have Mark with us through the end of the year to assist us through his transition to retirement,” Rasmussen said in the release.
