Amica Insurance offers tips for perspective car buyers
Amica, the country’s oldest mutual insurance company for automobiles, shared some key tips from both the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Before buying, Amica suggested that perspective car owners should compare prices across dealerships and models, approaching any dealership prepared to bargain on the price whether paying cash or financing. For customers who are financing their purchase, it is important to also compare the financing options offered by different dealerships because they will play a critical role in getting the best deal.
Finally, customers at a dealership should never settle for what’s on the lot. If the vehicle they want is not available with all the desired features and options, a longer wait for a new car order is worth ensuring the car is exactly what they want.
The prices customers ultimately settle on with their dealerships are not the only payments they’ll be making on those vehicles. In the initial stages of research, it is worth considering what the insurance payments on the car will be. Customers should research cars to find one with a tested, crashworthy design, considering that larger, heavier cars often provide better protection than smaller, lighter ones.
