Alliant names vice president of energy, marine group

Insurance brokerage firm Alliant Insurance Services has named Tom Hood as first vice president of its energy and marine group.

Hood has been in the insurance industry for almost three decades and has serviced many energy and marine clients including oil and gas contractors, vessel operators and shipyards, Alliant said in a recent release.

Hood previously served as managing director and principal at Upstream Brokers Inc., a brokerage specializing in energy and marine insurance brokerage, the release said. He was responsible for overseeing business development, management, client service, marketing and auditing.

"As one of the Gulf Coast’s leading authorities on marine risks, Tom will provide an additional layer of strength to our growing energy and marine croup," Alliant Chairman and CEO Tom Corbett said in the release. "With marine exposures constantly shifting, we remain committed to providing strength and stability to our clients no matter what their business objective."

As first vice president, Hood, who will be based out of Alliant's New Orleans office, will offer the group's regional clients access to targeted insurance, finance and risk management solutions.

Hood has also worked for numerous other companies including Ellsworth Corporation, USI Insurance Services and Aon Risk Solutions.
